Portrait of Betina Skovbro Betina Skovbro at Work

I am a freelance photographer, based in Cardiff.

I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark where I first developed my interest in photography. Since arriving in Wales in 1998, I have worked as a press photographer for the South Wales Argus and before that I worked as a children’s portrait photographer.

In 2003, I embarked on a new career as a freelance photographer and since then have developed a broad base of clients. My work covers a wide range of subject matter, from press and PR launches to news stories, documentary assignments, portraits and event photography.

Over the past 5 years, I have also been branching out from my commercial work to take on individual projects. The first of these – Mum Said You Were Dead – featuring a South Wales father of 20 was been seen at the National Eisteddfod in 2007, the 2006 Welsh Photography Open as well as a solo exhibition at CBAT Gallery. It also received coverage online at BBC, National Geographic Online and in magazines such as New Welsh Review and Taliesin.

My recent project, Dog Walker, involved taking portraits of over 108 dog walkers in my local park, proving that you can find inspiration for your work on your doorstep.

"I have worked with Betina for almost four years on a number of my clients. She is able to spot that perfect shot and make what is potentially a dull image come to life."
